If you search thru the forum, there was an old thread regarding this topic. If I recall correct, no one really had any true success in peeling masking off old acrylic. I even tried using my steamer (which worked great on peeling wallpaper) and it didn't work on some old sheets we found in a garage.
I read recipes the same way I read science fiction. I get to the end and I think, "Well, that’s not going to happen."
I just had to do that with some old acrylic that had been around for a while, it would not come off but in very small pieces. I tried all kinds of things and then just used warm water and it came right off, you may give it a try.
I wonder if a pressure washer with a fan spray would take it off.
I use a product called mask off that I got many years ago from an acrylic company that went out of business. Still works great on old acrylic that I bought from them. Just wet the paper, let it sit for 2 or 3 minutes and the paper cpmes right off.
Hope this helps

Krud Kutter - available everywhere, especially the big box stores.
Life and death don't bother me. It's that little period of time in between that bothers me.
Epilog Mini-24 40w with Rotary, Flame Polisher, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6, EngraveSoft, Windows 10 64-bit.
I'll have to keep this in mind as sometimes I come across older Plex at a discount just because the paper is harder to remove.

I remember trying Krud Kutter and Goo Gone on that old sheet we found in a garage and nothing worked. The only thing I didn't try was soaking it in the livestock trough for a week to see if that would make a difference.

I've used a heat gun and it pops right off.
Thanks all, tried the Krud Kutter, it lifted the paper well but not the adhesive. Wound up using the cnc vacuum table to hold the plexi down and used a heat gun as Vaughan mentioned.

I have had good luck leaving it soak in Mineral Spirits. Takes a couple of days.
Wonder if Vinyl-Off would work. I used this on my last service truck and worked well, took the vinyl and most of the clue off in one pull.

Roll it of with a dowel.
