    Some recent turning

Everyone likes pictures and I have been lazy in posting any of my turning, so here are a couple recent pieces I've finished...You will notice a re-occuring theme with a lot of my turning, as it tends to be birch, as that's what I have readily available....I do tend to turn burl wood as much as possible though.

Both these are saved "cut offs" from breaking down burls for larger pieces.

    A small lidded box..Birch burl with a Mesquite knob..2.5" x 3.5" tall...........Finished with WOP

    A shallow natural edge dish..Birch burl....11" x 6" x 3" tall...Again finished with WOP

Really like that color! And the Mesquite is a great complement.
Is the wood as iridescent as it looks?
Using Texas woods--especially Mesquite, the "Queen" of woods.

    Thanks, David!

Birch burls are seldom the "birds eye" type of grain, but generally have the iridescence you see in these pieces...Some more than others.

Wow That is some very nice use of cut-offs! The patterns on the dish remind me of quilted maple. These look great, hopefully you will post the larger pieces too.
