As the eyes get older, proper lighting is a MUST. I keep a bright light shining at an angle so that the top edge is highlighted. That is where I look most while cutting. I have a separate light that shines from the top that gives more ambient light and lets me examine the piece. I adjust the light for a raking light when examining for scratches during sanding.
This is in addition to 7 4' daylight tubes close overhead (7') and another dozen around the room at 12' elevation.
Retired - when every day is Saturday (unless it's Sunday).
