can I connect 2 irwin parallel clamps end to.end

Rockler has sale on irwin parallel clamps four for$120. Can I connect the long clamps end to end to create a 7foot reach?

Bessy makes a "clamp extender" which simply allows you to clamp 2 parallel clamps end to end. I don't know if the Bessy would fit the Irwin - worth looking in to though.

Something like this ought to do it.

Irwin Clamp Extender.JPG . Irwin Clamp Extender -2.jpg

Jaws used and their orientation would be different but, I'm at work and had to do this quick while I waited for a system to reboot.

I've done them back to back in the past when I needed a quick solution. Worked OK as long as you can handle managing 2 clamps into position. Though those blocks look like a nifty solution as well!

    good luck,

The Bessey clamp extender requires the removal of one of the moveable heads so that there is a longer adjustable clamp.

It appears that your suggestion give two clamps at a fixed length appart.
