I was thinking about picking up the Jet JWBS-18X bandsaw at a local wood show this weekend. This is the newer model with the increased resawing capacity and the roller bearings. Price is $850. Before this I was heading towards the Grizzly 0513.

Does anyone own the Jet? How do you feel about it?

Other comments about an 18" bandsaw under $1100?

One of the ww mags. rated the Rikon very high and a number of creekers have bought and seem to agree.

Hi John,

I own the pre-increased capacity saw, but it is basically the same saw. I would buy it again, and $850 seems like a really good current price.

I use 1/2" WoodSlicer blades for my general use blades and put a fresh one on for important resawing. The Jet has handled everything well.

Having said that, I would also look hard at the Rikon if I was in the market for another larger BS simply due to the overwhelming opinion of everyone who ever mentions theirs.

If it came down to dollars and the current price for the Jet was enough of a difference, I would not hesitate to get another one.
