Thread: Looking for a custom router bit maker.

  1. #1

Looking for a custom router bit maker.

Can anyone recommend someone to make me a router bit ?
I’m in central Florida but don’t mind working with someone across the country.

    Thanks
    Elman

    BTW - what I need is a two flute, 36mm R - 24mm D - .25” shank.

I can't imagine anyone with the tooling to create a router bit being willing or able to make a one off bit in a cost effective manner. That being said... Infinity Cutting Tools is out of Florida. Oldsmar, Florida to be specific.

I'm curious why you need such a specific bit and can't utilize a standard item?

Whiteside Machine and Carbide Processors both offered this service in the past. I see that CP still offers it as seen on their website: "Get a quote on a Custom Router Bit or Call 800-346-8274 for a quote." Tell 'em I sent ya ;-)

I’m making a double top guitar.
The cavity on the top goes down 1mm and the larger radius on the bit will give me a smooth transition area on the edge.

Thanks Glenn - I'll give them a call.

Elman, Surely that can be achieved by using multiple bits, no?

Not really. The geometry does not work for my application.

Dime a dozen, probably could be made from extant cutter. SouthEast tools, NC.

Sounds like a mighty big bit for a .25 shank.

Steve the bit is only 24mm diameter.
    Less than 1".
It's the 36mm radius (almost 1.5 R" ) that is hard to find.

    Thanks

Dynamic Saw in Buffalo, NY makes custom router bits, in solid carbide, too, on an amazing, one of a kind CNC grinder. Give them a call.
