Interesting, are you downsizing what you carry or dropping Festool as a whole?
Thanks for the heads up...I, um, took advantage of it.

Well, there goes my self control.
Thanks, I just spent a bunch
There are no toys, I mean tools that I need.
......and the shipping costs kill the deal for me, again.
Don't forget that Festool has a three year warranty.
Two weeks back, my 2.5 yr old Domino XL started oscillating/turning at perhaps 25-30% of normal speed. Speed regulator toasted?? Drag out the paperwork and I’m horrified to find I never registered it for warranty (in 1st 30 days). Too damned excited to put it to work.
Registered it online, printed the pre-paid RMA and shipped it to IA on Saturday, 12 June; grumbling the whole time about how much my stupiii…er, oversight was going to cost me. No reply or other confirmation of receipt — so I’m trying for zen & patience. Yesterday it arrived on my porch. Fixed. Warranty. Done.
Good buy. IMHO. Dang. Good. Buy.

Yes, initial cost is not low. But all that I bought in the mid-2000s still work "like new", so my real cost over time is low. But you hit the mark, Carroll...they are great for folks who like them and there's no harm in making other choices, either.

The most expensive tool is the one you buy "cheaply" and often...
I think all in all festool is pretty reasonable. Yes you pay more than double but from my use they last more than 2 x longer. The convenience of them not breaking on the job(as often) and the features they offer along the way are the bonus
Thanks Shiraz for the heads up. I picked up a Kapex blade and a couple replacement sanding pads. Time to send some blades in for sharpening .
RE Festool love: I love most of my Festool handtools and a couple dust collectors, but the Kapex is definitely underpowered. Cutting 4/4 white oak or maple is tedious, 6/4 requires multiple passes to keep the blade cool and from bogging down.
