Sub Forum for sales and deals?

There have been a lot of posts recently about sales from Amazon and Rockler etc....

It is difficult to dig through and look for these. Seems like it would be helpful to have a sub forum for items like these. Doesn't seem like they should go in the general because they quickly get lost in the posts. And not in the classifieds area I don't think either.

    Just a thought!

sounds good, the problem is they are usually timed sales i.e. the special offers expire at a certain time. As such they have no archival significance. Chances are if you have to go back 2-3 pages the sale is already over. I'll wait for the other moderators to chime in with their opinions.

I think it would be too slippery of a slope for advertisers.

We do not need another forum to moderate...given our highly paid staff running at 110% right now...

What I really would like members to do is be more thoughtful with their thread titles, both for "normal" threads as well as these "deal" threads. "Good Deal At Amazon" isn't a good thread title. "Amazon: 20% off Router Accessories Feb 2007" is a good title.

There is a real good one at BT3Central (.com).

It has pointed me to more than one good deal over the years.

I agree that there are a lot of sub forums. And archival purposes there are not. But, I've seen something about a deal on amazon for several things, but then had to take my best shot as far as what to search for to find them.

I think that better thread topic names would be a good solution though. Now, just whip all the SMC'ers into shape!

I'm one who posts a few Amazon deals. Thanks for the info Jim. I'll try to be a little more descriptive in my titles.
