    circular saw

i am wondering if anyone has one, or has heard any kind of review on the new Makita 5007mga circular saw. i have been wanting a new one for a while now, and was almost set on the Bosch cs20, when i saw the new Makita saw, and really like Makita tools. also, electric brake or not, is it worth it?

Hi there...What is the price range of the saw Jamie? I like Makita tools! Is Festool out of your price range?

ya i would say that festool is out of price range. am not really looking for something for high precision sheet cuts. more a nice saw, for framing, renos, typical contracting needs.

Makita is a real nice saw. I have the 5007NB for 18 years and it still works great. Think I paid about $70 for it. Paid for itself 20 times over. No experience with any other circular saw.

A couple of the fellows on the EZ forum have the 5007MGA saws and seem to like them. Dino just bought one but hasn't had time to try it out. I have the Bosch cs 20 and four of the Makita's. If you are looking for a combo of a good saw and good price, Amazon had the Makita 5007FA on sale for about $125. That is 15 amp with brake. I have one and think it is a good saw.

I love the cs20 myself. Lightweight and lots of power! I can't imagine a different saw, but that's my opinion

Some guy on Ebay has a multiple Buy It Now set up for the Makita 5007mg (No Blade Brake) for $124.99. There were three left last time I looked. Go to Ebay and do a search on Makita Circular Saw if your interested.

  8. This is an old thread, I know, but I have a question about this saw (5007MG). I just got one online, and while I like just about everything about it, I can't understand why the base is beveled off on the rear of the left-hand side. If I'm trying to cut a 45 using a speed square, I run out of base before I'm through the cut. This seems totally wrong, but maybe I'm missing the point of the shape of the base. Anyone know what that's about? Thanks.
