I would guess this is for an upgrade version.

Not clear to me (especially the first link) if it comes with the manual or the Insights From Experts booklet.

Here's a link from earlier in the year that comes with the retail box, all the CDs, manual, and booklet.

    Ed,
There is zero difference between the full version and the upgrade version with the exception of the Upgrade sticker on the outside of the box.
Manuals, installation, optional registration, future upgrades... all the same.

Many ask "how can they do that?" Look at their growth! Corel, as many others, has tried being hard nose and cost them a fortune in trying to keep up with it and the extra tech support staff to handle the issues when unlocking the software doesn't work right(to say nothing of the ill will).
Furthermore, I've seen scores of Illustrator, Designer, Arts & Letters users be swayed into the ranks by a "copy" they borrowed; now they're regular upgrade clients of Corel Corp.

    ethics question....

I really want to buy Corel x3 but I just bought Corel 12 about a year ago. Do you folks think it would be unethical to sell my Corel 12 disks to someone else..... (the disks are originals NOT pirated copies). Any other suggestions would be appreciated.....

If you sell your discs you do not have the right to buy an upgrade to X3. You would have to buy a full version, which costs a lot more.

The whole idea of an upgrade is that you must own a legal copy of the earlier version. If you sell that earlier version you don't have what it is that qualifies you for the upgrade.

full version and buying the manual....

Dave- you can buy a full version on ebay for $100. You don't have to buy an upgrade if you buy a full version.

I do have a question for you X3 owners- do you think having a paper manual is worth it? I see on ebay the versions do not come with a manual. I haven't found an upgrade version that comes with a manual either.

You can buy the 3 paper manuals for x3 at Corel's web page for $49 plus s/h. Just wondering if it's worth it.....

There are a ton of counterfeit programs being sold these days. And not just the old CD-R looking types. With new silver CD-Rs and the cheap mass duplicators and printers it's easy to pop out realistic looking copies today.

    I'd be very careful.

  11. Is it worth upgrading, are there plenty of benefits?
