    Clamp Meter question

I have a question on the use of a clamp on current meter for a 220v circuit. Let's say you have a motor with an FLA of 10A and you're running at a 10A current draw. If you use the clamp on current meter on one of the two hots (i.e. clamp goes around one wire according to the instructions) it should measure 5A correct?

No, It should read 10 amps. There would be 2 separate windings each drawing 10 amps. The wire should be sized for 175% of the maximum load on that circuit.

No, the current flows from one hot to the other, which is 180 degrees opposite . You will read 10amps on each hot.

    Paul,

Based on what do you make that statement?
