need basic instructions for my stanley 12-1/2 scraper plane

So my dad sent me a really nice 12-1/2 scraper plane. Its pretty much perfect, but had no blade. I ordered one from hock which arrived today. The cutting edge is cut at a bevel, rather than at 90 like I'm used to with other scrapers. Which way does the blade face, which way should I burnish it, and why does the hock blade have a little hole drilled in it on the side. Also, any info on the angle adjustment would be great.

Here is a link to Patrick Leach's page on Stanley tools and the Stanley 12 1/2. He talks about blade orientation in the paragraph to the right of the second picture down.

Here's a link to a copy of the original Stanley guide. Takes practice, but this will give you the basics.

    Hope it helps...
