This is the motor for my sand car. As much as I love wood work. I still have another hobby.

Beautiful setup there Bill. Can't wait to see the "sand car" with that new motor sitting in it.
Thanks & Happy Wood Chips,

Bill,
That looks like the motor set-up on my table saw, you wouldn't believe the volume of wood I can cut with it in a short period of time.
Neat looking engine bet it can really kick up some sand. Looks like it could out do the VW engines that were popular in the 60's by about 500%.
Who said woodworkers only play with woodworking tools.

What you guys don't know......Bill and Tim "the Toolman" Taylor are neighbors and distant relatives........
Nice engine Bill!

So much to learn, so little time.....
Sand car?
Aren't the roads in Tucson paved?
Impressive looking motor, what’s the HP on that little V4?
Sure is puuurty.
Specs Bill?.... displacement, compression ratio, HP, torque.... do tell.
Greg
Yeah baby! That's what I'm talkin' about. That pulley thing on the front is so you can hook it up to your bandsaw?

I'm LMAO right now. The motor is about 200 cui, it 600 hp and 550 lbs of torque. The heads are sawed off edelbrock aluminum. You can see the weld on the left of the head. The motors design was created by splitting the 4 center cylinders out and welding the front and back 1/2s together then making a mold of that and casting a v-4. Lets review, 600hp, 550lbd torque and it weighs 225lbs.. The whole car will weigh 1600 lbs. I talked to the guy that had the same motor in his car and his response was "VIOLENT POWER" Heres a shot of the valve train. It should skidaddle.
P.S. I forgot, 10 to 1 compression and 16 lbs of boost on alcohol. It'll go through 2-1/2 gallons of alcohol in 1/4 mile wide open. GULP.
I wish I could give Tim the Tool man a run for his money. Have you ever seen his old school blue truck? A little over 1200hp.

You know, a bandsaw blade for the blower belt.........naa better not.

Now there's a power to weight ratio.... snowmobile like acceleration eh? Actually, whats the gearing like in that kind of toy anyway?
Assume the stats are from a dyno, any idea what the rear wheel HP is or any guess? I remember seeing the go kart pics, now I wanna see it pulling wheelies or catching air....
Buddy of mine with a 33 Chevy truck with a blown 383 stroker says he gets at least 450 on the rear and can burn his 18" slicks off it... literally like watching Kyle Busch tear it up after another win. The truck disappears in the smoke plumes....
looks like something i would put on a lathe, then you could really get to turning
14x48 custom 2hp 9gear lathe
9 inch pre 1940 craftsman lathe
36 inch 1914 Sydney bandsaw (BEAST)
Wood in every shelf and nook and cranny,,, seriously too much wood!

In the last sandcar it was in the torque only dropped 25ft lbs. The car would do a wheelie from a 30mph rolling start and 4 people in it. I think that will blink your chicken eye. It'll still probably be a year before It's in the car and ready to run. We're changing the fuel injection to a lap top programmable system, so that will take some time.
