    Desk projects almost done

Here are a couple of desks I am just completing. Both are made with solid maple and maple ply. They are finished with sprayed shellac and WB poly. The armoire desk was made from plans found on popular mechanics. The only alteration I made was with the drawer configuration (not shown.) This is the second and last time I follow plans from start to finish. There were some assembly measurements missing which caused some grief so I had to make some alterations along the way.

The second desk was partially build from plans found in Woodsmith issue 144 and the rest were adhoc. I just need to finish the file drawers to complete this desk. My original plan had my PC on a sliding tray built into the desk. Both desks were suppose to be side by side so this is the size I was limited to. Than when I was almost done it was suggested we move the armoire desk to the opposite wall. The upside is I bult this desk so I can widen it at a later date. Hopefully by next weekend they will be complete.

Looks good... post the finish. I just finished a coffee table yesterday and got the call for a small computer desk this morning. She obviously has no respect!

    Rick,

The desk looks great. I've been planning to build a new computer desk for my daughter, and your's give me some ideas I hadn't thought of.

Both are functional but it will be done when the drawers are installed
If you're anything like me, that could be a while. It took me nearly a year to build and install the doors for my office cabinets.

I am just waiting for the drawer slides to come in at the end of this week. The drawers are done and ready to be installed.

I finally received the filing drawer slides. Here are more pics. The armoire pics emphasize the rear maple backing but it is not as pronounced in person.
