X-Mas Presents

I let my son take a bowl in for share day in his kindergarten class earlier this year. His teacher and assistent made such a fuss over it that I knew what he had to take them for a Christmas present. They are all from maple. #1 is 5" by 4" high, #2 is 6 1/2" by 4" high, and the 3rd one is 3 1/2" by 4" tall.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. These are the first HF's that I've turned thin once and let dry. It only took 2 weeks to dry at 1/8" thick and they didn't warp as much as I thought they would. The last bowl formed ridges on the curl which gives it a three-D look of a 3-D baseball card, when you move it and let the light hit it from a different angle. The first two are from a maple that fell near our house a few years ago. The last one is from a maple that fell in the spring. It is turned from a scrap off the side of a large blank I cored for a friend. His cored set is going to be out of this world. My son's teacher and assistant are great and deserve something. He came home from school 2nd or 3rd day and I asked him how he like Kindergarten, he looked up at me and said " it rocks". He still loves school and that is very important to me.

Thanks again, Shawn I finished them with deft satin spray 5 or 6 coats. Let them dry for a couple days and then lightly hit them with 0000 steel wool and buffed them.
