    This one really hurts

My wife had to put down our beloved chocolate lab Zoë last week while I was working up in Alaska. She had been suffering from bone cancer and the Vet said it was time. I wish Zoë could have made it until I got home Wednesday but at the same time I’m not sure how well I would’ve handled it.

    She was a sweetie.

    So sorry.

Been there recently. There isn't anything but time that will make this fade away.

That's very sad news, Bruce. Zoe lives on, however, every time you think of her.

That's tough Bruce! My sympathies! We put our Samoyed down 12 years ago. I think of her daily!

Bummer, but I'm sure later on when you are ready there will be enough love for another companion.

    Bruce-

My sympathies on your loss. When and if you're ready for another pooch, Animal Humane (Virginia SE) always has a lot of great dogs. We adopted our second beast there last December and there were about 20 more I wanted to take home. It breaks my heart to see so many fine dogs in shelters.

Man...that's a tough one bud. Every one is special...old labs are such a friend.

Ben, I found Zoe at Animal Humane 13 years ago. If & when we get another, Animal Humane will be the first place we look.

Thanks everyone. Your thoughts mean a lot to me.

Bruce, my wife and I had to put our beloved German Sheppard down this past summer and we miss her daily as our new dog is not as bright as the last one. Sorry for your loss but remember the good times you had with Zoe. Pat

    Al ittle something for you

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
