Another member here, Michael Weber, had posted yet that he was getting rid of some of his tools among them was a PSI cyclone. I noticed he was only 70 miles away and I contacted him and finally went down and after a minute, we loaded it up and it came home with me.

I had been using a HF for a number of years and was planning on using it for a while longer. But Michael's blower is a true 2ph, and with it being 3 phase and using VFD, it fits well with 20 to 30 percent more vacuum. No, just estimate, but it pulls way more no matter.

I had already purchased 4inch pipe and a bunch more Grizzly fittings for HF, and after noticing the PSI was 5 inch inlet and outlets, I reduced inlet after a couple of feet. Piped outlet through back wall. No filter. And each blast gate is wired with microswitch back to the VFD to switch the blower on and off when opened or closed. So far works fine.

Congratulations, John! That looks like a great upgrade to your DC system.
Just a minor suggestion -- replace the 90º elbow on your cyclone inlet with a 45º ell or a long turn 90º ell. This will improve your air flow a little.

John, I have a JDS system where the central switch died. What brand is the VFD you are using?

The unit is a Teco 7200. I have three Allen-Bradley on other machines and they all work well. The Teco's cooling fan runs all the time. The A-B units all cycle. So they are silent almost all the time, even in my hot shop unless they are actually running a machine. Just something to think about. (I'm not about to change it out over that little thing)
I've bought a number of A-B units on Ebay in the past relatively cheaply (some under $50) They are more expensive last time I checked, but as long as they are shown as WORKING pulls, they have been good.

I would, but I'm not moving anything. It's still 5" at that point, so it isn't really changing anything by a measurable amount. Me keeping the flex to minimum is more effective.
